# Password Recovery

> Reset a Starfire AI password safely, understand reset-token behavior, and review sessions after recovery.

# Password recovery

Use password recovery when you can no longer authenticate with the current password or when you need to secure an account after a suspected exposure.

## Request a reset

1. Open the Starfire sign-in screen.
2. Choose the password-recovery action available in the current build.
3. Enter the email for the intended Starfire account.
4. Use the newest reset message sent to that address.
5. Choose a new unique password.
6. Sign in again and review session state.

## Reset links

Reset links are temporary credentials. They can expire and should normally be single-purpose.

If you requested multiple reset messages, use the newest one. Older reset actions may no longer be valid.

## After the reset

If the reset was prompted by a security concern:

* review active sessions/devices
* revoke sessions you no longer trust
* review developer API keys and service accounts separately
* review organization membership or security events when appropriate

Changing a password does not automatically guarantee that independent developer credentials were revoked.

## If the reset email never arrives

Confirm the address is correct, check delivery/spam filtering, and avoid creating a duplicate Starfire account just to regain access to existing projects or organizations.

Authorized support operators can inspect account and delivery state without asking for your password or reset token.

  Never send a password-reset link or token to support. Support should work from account identity, timestamps, and operational state instead.
