Use this page as the canonical terminology reference for the Starfire AI platform.

Term	Meaning
Account	A person’s Starfire identity, including authentication, profile, sessions, personal resources, and membership in organizations.
Agent	A reusable AI configuration with durable instructions, capabilities, and execution boundaries.
Application	A Developer Platform container for credentials, webhooks, usage, and integration ownership.
Artifact	A durable output produced by a Starfire workflow, especially FORGE builds.
BillingAccount	The Starfire billing context that connects a person or organization to subscription, credit, and Stripe customer state.
Build	A FORGE software job that plans, writes or modifies files, validates, repairs, packages, and produces artifacts.
Control Center	Starfire’s privileged platform-administration and operations interface.
Credit	Starfire’s internal unit for eligible platform compute and feature usage.
Developer Platform	The programmatic Starfire surface for APIs, credentials, applications, webhooks, runs, usage, and integrations.
Entitlement	A capability or limit granted by plan, organization policy, rollout, or administrator configuration.
FORGE	Starfire’s software-generation, repair, validation, repository-intelligence, and artifact system.
Knowledge	Persistent reference material indexed for later retrieval, including documents, repositories, and supported sources.
Knowledge Base	A named collection of indexed Knowledge sources with a defined owner and access boundary.
Model	An AI model presented through Starfire’s model catalog.
Organization	A shared team ownership, billing, permission, project, and policy boundary.
Project	A durable workspace for related conversations, files, Knowledge, research, builds, and artifacts.
Project OS	Starfire’s persistent project-context architecture for long-running work.
Provider	The upstream service that hosts or serves a model, search service, embedding model, or another platform dependency.
RAG	Retrieval-augmented generation: retrieving relevant Knowledge and adding it to model context for a response.
Research Run	A long-running research workflow that can plan searches, gather sources, evaluate claims, and generate a cited result.
Route	A configured path from Starfire to a specific provider/model combination.
Run	A durable execution record for work that can outlive one synchronous request.
Scope	A narrow permission granted to a developer credential or execution identity.
Service Account	A non-human identity intended for software or automation workloads.
Session	An authenticated interactive login instance associated with an account and client/device.
Tool	A capability a model or workflow can call, such as search, retrieval, calculation, validation, filesystem work, or packaging.
Watcher	Automation that checks for a condition and begins work or notifies someone when the condition is met.
Workflow	A multi-step automation with state, tools, agents, limits, and optional approval gates.

Terminology rules

Starfire documentation uses account for a person’s identity and organization for a team boundary. It uses run for long-running execution generally and build for a FORGE-specific software job.

Terms can gain additional fields during Alpha development, but the conceptual distinctions on this page should remain stable unless a release note explicitly changes them.
